Following his undergraduate medical training at St Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr Symeon completed his specialist training in psychiatry on the South London and Maudsley training scheme. This included experience in multiple psychiatric subspecialties and spurred him on to gain an MSc in Neuroscience from Kings College London.
Dr Symeon has expertise in the subspecialty of neuropsychiatry having previously worked at National Specialist NHS services including The Maudsley Hospital, Kings College Hospital, Bethlem Royal Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. And he holds a Substantive Consultant Neuropsychiatrist position at St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London where he is the responsible clinician for neuropsychiatry inpatients at the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Unit, a level 1 national tertiary service. He diagnoses and treats patients with complex neuropsychiatric conditions in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr Symeon has an interest in the use of digital in health technology and transformation of health services. He is involved in the arts and co-curated the first service user exhibition at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and acts as an advisor to major arts organisations on festivals and projects involving mental health.
Dr Symeon holds registration with the General Medical Council, and Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is approved by the Secretary of State under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 as a specialist in the treatment of mental disorders.
